This Shino-ware Hagi-style mizusashi features iron-ore glaze paintings of fiddlehead ferns and the Genji-mon for Chapter 17 of Tale of Genji. The unusual shape is as if two square vessels were partially merged. It includes a black lacquer lid. This mizusashi comes in two boxes, a diamond-shaped inner lacquer box and a later period exterior box.
