Ely Kim is an artist and creative director with a portfolio that spans work in fashion, music, and tech. He received his MFA from Yale in 2010 and considers his greatest influences to be “growing up in Las Vegas, puppies, and crystals.” Currently a creative director in residence at the award-winning Ways & Means, Kim has previously worked with brands including Apple, Spotify, Google, MAC Cosmetics, Calvin Klein, and Kate Spade in his capacity as both an independent creative director and with other agencies.
This series of posters comes from the 2011 show Irrational Exuberance: A Recession Art Show. Kim says they use "humorous exclamations, questions, and statements to lead to a deeper reflection on contemporary consumer society.” Originally sold in editions of 100, each work is signed and numbered on the back.
